== RE: Lower Granite Lock and Dam -- HELP!!! ==

Hola!

I need some help here:

There are a couple sentences that need re-working:

  • 1) Lower Granite Dam is the most upstream dam in the Snake River system that has fish ladders to allow adult salmon and steelhead to migrate upstream.

I don't think that most upstream sounds good, and "upstream" twice in the same sentence doesn't either.

  • 2) The Columbia River treaty tribes along with some environmental groups have recommended that this dam along with the other three lower Snake River dams be decommissioned and/or removed because of their impact on endangered salmon and steelhead populations.

Either name the treaty, the treaty should be specific, like the Treaty of Versailles, name the "groups," if it is Girl Scout Troupe 345 from Eu Claire, Wisconsin, I don't know if that matters much. Also, you need citations. And, have Wikilinks to both the "treaty" and the "groups."

  • 3) The Army Corps of Engineers has installed new devices such as removable spillway weirs in an attempt to make the dam less harmfull to juvenile salmon.

What is a "removable spillway weirs"...either need to explain it, or better yet Wikilink to it. User:Peteforsyth added a [citation needed] to the that paragraph.

Thanks for the help!

Hi!

[edit]

Are you still interested in merging steelhead and Rainbow Trout? I'd be willing to help. Also, I'm glad to see you guys are interested in fixing up the Granite Dam and related articles. I've been working on articles about the Columbia and Snake Rivers, and their dams, and would love some input by people likely much more knowledgeable than me...I've just been looking up newspaper articles etc. -Pete 20:39, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
